Climate Change & Health at the University of Chicago

Changes in the global climate are leading to increased exposures of humans around the world to extreme weather and environmental disasters. These hazards are not being felt equally, with disproportionate burden being borne by countries and communities who are the least responsible for climate change.

The Burrows Research Group is focused on evaluating the health impacts of climate-related exposures on human health, using a range of quantitative and qualitative methods. Our research underscores the upstream determinants of health, and how social and environmental systems interact to produce adverse health outcomes. This research aims to improve global health equity in the context of a changing climate.
